DVR capabilities of Nimble Streamer

Recording and playback

Nimble Streamer provides recording and playback capability for incoming live streams. Read this article to see how it is set up and used.

Current incoming streams formats are RTMP, RTSP, MPEG-TS, Icecast and SHOUTcast
Outgoing playback streams formats are HLS and MPEG-DASH.

Current DVR features are:

  • recording the specified incoming streams;
  • playback of previously recorded streams;
  • playback for selected time range for EPG etc.;
  • time-shifted playback of recorded stream;
  • per-application and per-stream settings;
  • split recording by threads and recording location;
  • ABR support for input and output;
  • high performance and low resources usage;
  • source stream timing errors handling.

Nimble Streamer is the media server with full MPEG-DASH feature set which includes DVR playback.

Control API

A set of APIs allows automating DVR setup for your streaming infrastructure. Please check WMSPanel API reference for DVR settings section.

Easy installation and upgrade

Nimble Streamer can be installed in a couple of small steps and upgraded to the latest version by running two or three simple commands in console.
